Sydney Sunset
One thing I have learnt over the years is to enjoy the simple pleasures, a Sydney Sunset, a nice cup of tea or the love of my life. Up until 2013 I would have told you I new what love was, after all I was 47, was technically still married but living apart, with two children. I’d been there done that, I’d even got the tee shirt.
Then one day, a Sunday afternoon, I was alone, in my house, my kids and ex wife some 180 miles away in their home. Surfing on Facebook an acquaintance, I wound not say friend, added me to a Facebook group, I dipped in and realised, nope this is not for me, but in some sort of misguided loyalty to the owner of the group I posted an introductory message. I said hi, said I wasn’t looking for anything, I had every intention of quietly disappearing in a few days.
I got a friend request, she messaged me and we started talking. There was instantly a connection, we just talked, via messages, it was as if we had known each other for ever. We talked for hours, for her all night. If felt like minutes. During this time the owner of the Facebook group realised we were talking and went crazy, forbid me to talk to “his girl”, kicked me out of the group and blocked me. He was messaging her telling her how bad I was and how I shouldn’t be trusted, all the time we were talking and actually laughing about how stupid the situation was.
This girl turned out to be someone very special, in April 2014 my marriage ended and divorce papers were filed. On the 2nd August 2014 she got on a plane and flew around the world to visit me, we spent 6 weeks in the UK, then flew to Sydney for two weeks there. Those eight weeks were a lifetime, we new each other so well, the hardest thing I’ve ever done was to walk though the security in Sydney airport and leave Australia. We both new at that moment that our lives were meant to be together, as one.
On the 19th November 2014, she got on a plane with a one way ticket, and we closed the gap.
But the story doesn’t end there, jump forward to June 2106, I finally got around to asking the question, and guess what she said YES!
Oh I didn’t tell you her name did I, did you guess, yes it’s TRACY, my Tracy, my world
